I work on robot manipulation, grasping, and tool design and tool-use — toward general-purpose robots that are genuinely useful in everyday human environments.

Yizan Dai
01 About

I am an undergraduate in General Artificial Intelligence at Peking University (Tong Class ’25, Yuanpei College). My research is in robotics — how machines can physically interact with the world by picking things up, holding them stably, and using objects as tools.

I’m especially interested in manipulation and tool-use: not just grasping an object, but understanding what it affords and how to wield it. My long-term goal is to help realize embodied intelligence.

02 Research Interests
01

Robotics

Building robots that perceive, plan, and act in the physical world.

02

Manipulation

Stable grasping and dexterous manipulation across diverse objects.

03

Tool Design & Tool-use

Designing tools and learning to use them — extending what a robot can do.

Long-term Goal

Realizing embodied intelligence — agents that learn to perceive, reason, and act through physical interaction, and that generalize to the open, unstructured world.
